Today we built the frame that will hold the concrete to make our footing. The forms are built from basic 2"x 8" pine and 1"x 3" strapping, and are held in place by rebar spikes. After the forms were assembled and inspected, they were ready to be poured. The building process for the forms was completed by Rob and Steve. After that, the redi-mix truck arrived and poured 6 yards of concrete to make our footing.
This project is an initiative carried out by the Housing Nantucket Office; which has set out to use alternative forms of building materials and solar energy in an affordable housing unit in Tom Nevers Nantucket, MA.
